Hello Andy,
I keep popping in to see if the forum is active. What is wrong with your van as I might be able to help.

Re: Hi from Dorset
We have a problem with a leaky roof. We bought it around 2 months ago and about 2 weeks ago when it was raining heavy it leak really bad. We are not sure the point of entry but it really needs sorting. It has it's MOT soon so fingers crossed.
Re: Hi from Dorset
I have a Talbot Express Bedouin and when I bought mine it was leaking. The previous owner didn't tell me this, in fact she said it had NO leaks.
I had to rip the whole roof down from the inside and replace with ply. The best thing to do Andy is to have a good look at the roof, look for pin holes and check the rails as sometimes the water get in that way. (under the rubber)

Re: Hi from Dorset
Today when I finished work I managed to have a good look and I couldn't find and holes. The metal strips with rubber in the middle I noticed when looking under the rubber the screws are rusty. Could this be a problem?
Re: Hi from Dorset
Andy the rubber is called a herzim strip.
It's quite common for the water to get under the strip or into the screw holes and cause damp. To do a proper job you would remove screws, then take of the rail and reseal. What I did was remove the herzim strip from the rail on top of the motor home and sealed with Sikaflex. All the screws are rusty in my case and really I should remove them and do a good job, but I just don't have the time or a drive (garage)to do it, anyway it has stop the damp and has been dry as a bone for the last few years.
